Who we are

This site, The Choice Chain, is operated by Louise A Hosking, an independent adviser and speaker based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Louise A Hosking is the data controller for personal data collected through this site.

What data we collect

Enquiries you send us

When you submit the contact form, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, organisation, role, optional LinkedIn profile URL, enquiry type, any applicable session selection, referral source, referral details when Other is selected, and message. We use this information to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and to understand how people hear about The Choice Chain.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site (pages viewed, interactions such as outbound links and sharing, time on page, general location and device type). Google Analytics is not loaded, and no analytics cookies are set, until you accept analytics cookies in the banner shown on your first visit. Server and hosting logs

Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically records standard technical logs for security and reliability (such as IP address, browser type and request timestamps) for every visitor, regardless of cookie consent. This is a normal part of running a website and is not used to identify individuals.

Why we process your data (lawful basis)

• Enquiries: legitimate interest — responding to and following up on a request you have chosen to make, and understanding how people discover The Choice Chain, is necessary to run this business.
• Analytics: consent — Google Analytics only runs after you actively accept it via the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Hosting/security logs: legitimate interest — keeping the site secure and operational.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") to run this site:

• Netlify — hosting, and processing of contact-form submissions.
• Supabase — secure storage and management of contact-form enquiries.
• Google (Analytics) — website usage analytics, only after consent.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.

International transfers

Netlify, Supabase and Google may process data on servers outside the UK. Where this happens, it is covered by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent adequacy mechanism.

How long we keep it

• Contact-form enquiries: kept only as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, then deleted.
• Google Analytics data: retained for 14 months from collection, per our Analytics configuration, then automatically deleted by Google.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Have your data erased, in certain circumstances
• Restrict or object to how we use your data
• Request your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can contact us directly, or complain to the UK's independent regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
