Cookie Notice
Last updated 5 August 2026
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site can store on your device. Some make a site work; others help us understand how it's used. This notice explains what we use and why, in line with the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Essential cookies
These are required for the site to function and are always on — they cannot be switched off. We use one: a note of your cookie-consent choice itself, so we don't ask you again on every visit.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tcc-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies | 1 year (stored in your browser, not a tracking cookie) |
Analytics cookies
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. These are not set until you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique visitors for Google Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_* | Persists Google Analytics session state | Up to 2 years |
These are set by Google. See Google's cookie policy for detail on how Google itself handles this data.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time. Clearing the tcc-consent entry in your browser's site data will show the banner again on your next visit. You can also select Cookie settings in the website footer, or control cookies directly through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies from a specific site. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the site remembers your preference.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice if the cookies we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Questions? Contact louise@louise-hosking.com.
